HELP : Add Student Confirmation
‘Add Student Request’ is a notification your music teacher initiated to allow you to register an account in the MTAC, Music Teachers’ Association of California, website. Your registration is required for you to participate in MTAC sponsored programs, such as Certificate of Merit. If you are under 18 years old, your parent or guardian must complete this process.
The ‘Add Student Request’ page contains:
- the name of the music teacher who initiated the request
- the name of the student
- the instrument that is being taught
If the information is not correct, contact your music teacher and request the notification be resent with the correct information. If you received the notification in error, notify your music teacher. Your music teacher may have entered your email address by mistake.
If you are a Student, 18 years or older:
If you do not have an account in the MTAC system, this process will create an account for you. Click the ‘No’ button (see 3 in the image above).
If you already have an account, click ‘Yes, I have a Student Account’ (see 1 in the image above). This displays the login page for you to log into the system.
Once you have an account in MTAC, the information about you, your teacher, and your instrument of instruction will be established in the system. Once you are established as your teacher’s student, your teacher can enroll you in MTAC programs.
Note that if you are learning multiple instruments with the same teacher, your teacher will be sending you multiple notifications. You must complete each one.
If you are a Parent:
As a parent, this process does the following:
- Creates a parent account, if you do not already have one.
- Establishes a connection between you and your child’s accounts. If your child does not have an account, you will be given an opportunity to create one.
- Establishes a connection between your child and your child’s music teacher.
If you do not have an account in the MTAC system, this process will create an account for you. Click the ‘No’ button (see 3 in the image above).
If you already have an account in MTAC, click ‘Yes, I have a Parent Account’ (see 2 in the image above). This displays the login page for you to log into the system.
If you have multiple children involved in MTAC programs, you may already have an account with MTAC. Please only use one parent account for all your children.
If your child does not have an MTAC account, you will be given an opportunity to create one during this process. Your child will have a student account in MTAC, but you will be managing it.
Note that if your child is learning multiple instruments with the same teacher, the teacher will be sending you multiple notifications. You must complete each one.
